Research Method
Cyntelix research is always applied research. The outcome, whether it is a technology, product or service, should have potential in the commercial world. Cyntelix uses a specific module for the lifecycle of the research programs. At the end of each stage there is a gateway, where the program is reviewed for perceived commercial viability in order to proceed to the next step of the module.

Basic Research
This stage deals with ideas and their conceptualization, establishing the foundational theory and scope of the problem domain. The duration of the process is dependent on the complexity of the idea and the level of innovation, with breakthrough ideas requiring more time than those representing incremental innovation. At the end of the stage, all the research output is assessed with a small feasibility study to determine the potential commercial viability and the alignment with the business strategy and current product/services of Cyntelix.
Applied Research
The research output of the previous stage, which is evaluated to have potential commercial interest, undergoes applied research. This process will contribute to maturation of innovation leading to concrete prototypes for pilot testing and evaluation. At this stage, user surrogates of the potential final customer are used in the evaluation and validation of the research being carried out. This will enable to determine more accurately the commercial potential of a research result. At the end of the stage, a clear Return On Investment (ROI) analysis is carried out, along with a concrete feasibility study that includes either an exploitation plan with commercial value or a rudimentary business plan at pre-competitive stage.
Production
Those outputs from the previous stage that have demonstrated to have a worthwhile ROI, either directly or indirectly are then developed into concrete products or services. At the end of this stage, a concrete detailed business plan is derived, to determine the necessary investment to create a sustainable business. In some cases, the development involves the integration into an existing product line.
Incubation
This stage corresponds to a pre-determined period of time where the product/service is assessed concerning its commercial validity as outlined by the business plan. A product/service only becomes part of a business unit's operations (or even the creation of a new business unit) if, and only if, it demonstrates to have a viable ROI.
Business Division
This corresponds to the commercial exploitation of the product/service and its associated business operations.
Spin-off
In some cases, the product/service may demonstrate to require its own legal, financial and business autonomy. Consequently, a spin-off is created, with strategic liaisons to Cyntelix. The transfer of relevant Intellectual Property, or its licensing, is negotiated at the time of establishing the new legal entity.
